Dr. Rajesh Majumdar Chowdhury has about 31 years of experience in Ophthalmology out of which more than 12 years has been in United Kingdom.

He completed his postgraduate training in ophthalmology in India and then received further higher ophthalmic surgical training in UK.

During his training in UK, Dr. Majumdar Chowdhury received his Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of England and a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

He also undertook Fellowship training in Oculoplasty surgery from the Corneo-plastic department of the Queen Victoria Hospital of East Grinstead, UK.

He was a Trust Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at Swindon, United Kingdom.

After coming back to India in 2009, he joined the Sankara Nethralaya as Senior Consultant in the Department of Oculoplasty and Orbital Surgery.

After spending 3 years in Sankara Nethralaya, around middle of 2012, Dr. Chowdhury started his present attachment as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in the department of Cataract, Ocular plastics, Lacrimal and Orbital surgeries in the Fortis Group of Hospitals and B. B. Eye Foundation at Sarat Bose Road and VIP road.

He is also attached with AMRI group of Hospitals as a Cataract and Oculoplasty Specialist and visits the AMRI Medical Centre at Southern Avenue once weekly.

Dr. Majumdar Chowdhury has kept up his connection with the British National Health Service and visits the UK every year in summer to work as a Locum Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon for a period of 4 to 6 weeks. This definitely helps him to keep abreast with the latest development in the Ophthalmology care in the Great Britain.

Dr. Chowdhury diligently attends various national and international level academic meets and workshops in India and abroad to keep his knowledge and skills completely updated.

He is a competent and high volume phaco surgeon and provides evidenced based care to all his patients coming to him for general eye problems.

He is a very experienced and skilled oculoplasty surgeon performing many varied and complicated procedures related to droopy lids, eye lid bags, in turned and out turned lids, lid tumours and lid injuries.

Dr. Chowdhury regularly performs cosmetic oculoplastic procedures like ptosis correction, repair of upper lid and lower lid bags and xanthelasma correction.

He gets regular referrals of patients with Blepharospasm and he routinely performs botulinum toxin injections on these patients with excellent results.

Every week Dr. Rajesh Majumdar Chowdhury operates on at least 3 to 4 patients with blocked tear ducts.
